Volunteer and help give our members skills for life!

Scouting  is very popular, and the 5th Camberwell Scout Group has a waiting list which continues to grow.

We’d love to offer more young people spaces, but we need adults to help expand our programme.

Volunteer with us and help give our members skills for life!

What if I don't have much spare time...?

All roles are filled by volunteers and people can sign up to give as much time as they can, either working directly with the young people or in supportive roles. Not everyone needs to wear the uniform or sleep in a field to support the group, though you can if you want to. Weekly roles are great, but we also have a variety of roles for those who would prefer something less regular – we can juggle around your available time!

What will I get out of Scouting?

As well as gaining externally recognised skills and having a brilliant time, Scouting also offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership.

A study found that over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been of relevance to their working or personal lives.

What skills do I need...?

You don’t have to be an adventurer like Bear Grylls to get involved with Scouting. Are you good at organising? Do you have first aid knowledge? Are you good with numbers? Handy in the kitchen? Or are you a DIY whizz? We all have useful skills and you can volunteer and help in many ways.

My child is in Scouting - is there anything I can do to help..?

Yes! Many of our helpers and leaders are parents of our youth members because they’ve seen first hand how Scouting benefits young people and want to give something back. It’s also a chance to spend more time with your children and learn new skills. Speak to your child’s leader to discuss how you might become involved.

Young Leaders

Young people aged 14-18 can volunteer to be Young Leaders within Scouting. Volunteering as a Young Leader can contribute towards a Duke of Edinburgh award in addition to teaching essential skills relating to working with children and helping them grow in confidence. If you or your young person would be interested in taking on this role please complete the form below or email youngleader@5thcamberwellscouts.org.uk

How do I register...?

Use the form below to register your interest or email the group secretary at secretary@5thcamberwellscouts.org.uk.
